Neuropathology for Pathologists' Assistants Education Session
Event Description
The PA Section of the CAP-ACP is hosting a one time educational session on the topic of Neuropathology for Pathologists’ Assistants, held virtually via webinar on Saturday June 27, 2026 from 10am – 17:10 pm EST, for a total of 6.3 continuing education hours
This event will provide a review of neuroanatomy and histology, as well as a review of grossing, biobanking, frozen sections, neuropathology in medical and forensic autopsy settings, common CNS tumours, and will include a tutorial on brain cutting (see below schedule).
The continuing education hours from this event are eligible towards CCCPA-CCCAP and ASCP recertification hours, but is unaccredited towards Section 1 and Section 3 credits.

Meet the Speakers

Cassie Buick
Cassie is a CCCPA-CCCAP certified Pathologists’ Assistant whose pathology journey has spanned over two decades, and taken her across the country from one coast to another. She currently works at the Moncton Hospital in New Brunswick where she is heavily involved in surgical and autopsy pathology services. Cassie is passionate about education and elevating the role of Canadian PAs in autopsy and neuropathology services.

Mike Harvey

Dr. Julia Keith
Dr Julia Keith is a Canadian Neuropathologist who has been the Neuropathologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences for 16 years. She is an Associate Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto and a consultant Neuropathologist for the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services. Originally from Nova Scotia, she obtained her MD from Dalhousie University and completed her Neuropathology Residency at Western University.

Dr. Maliha Khara

Emily Kyle
Emily is a CCCPA-CCCAP and ASCP certified Pathologists’ Assistant based in Peterborough, Ontario. She has an MSc in Clinical Anatomy, and is a graduate of the Western University Graduate PA program. She is passionate about teaching anatomy and pathology to students, and actively works towards uplifting the profession of pathologists’ assistants in Canada.

Peter Leventis
Peter is a CCCPA-CCCAP certified Pathologists’ Assistant based in Toronto, Ontario. He has an MSc in Human Anatomy from the University of British Columbia, and a PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Toronto. He is the current Senior PA at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Prior to his PA career, Peter was a research trainee, with doctoral and post-doctoral work at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto studying proteins and lipids involved in intracellular trafficking.

Dr. David Munoz
Dr. Munoz is a Canadian Neuropathologist. He received his training at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario and has been working as the Neuropathologist at Saint Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, for the last 25 years. Although he covers all aspects of diagnostic neuro pathology, his main interest are neurodegenerative disease and neuro-oncology.

Kelsey Racicot
Kelsey has a BSc and an MSc in Neuroscience from the University of Lethbridge where her thesis was focused on neuroanatomical variation across domesticated birds. Neuroscience and neuroanatomy are one of Kelsey’s many passions! Upon completing her masters in Neuroscience, she then completed her Masters in Pathologists’ Assistant Graduate Program at the University of Calgary. Kelsey is board certified by the CCCPA-CCCAP and is now practicing in Edmonton, Alberta.
